 Welcome

Welcome

The digitalization of living and working environments is developing an inseparable integration of physical and digital worlds on social and technological layers. The exploitation of technologies like artificial intelligence, telecommunications,  nanotechnology and mechatronics enable new interaction systems in consideration of  the requirments arrogated by economy,  psychology and sociology.

Among other things this creates the base for designing inovative products and services with  far-reaching effects on living and working environments. The Reserach Center for Intelligent Media (RCIM) analyzes these socio-technical systems in three layers:

  1. Technology: Development of technical infrastructures for intelligent media using semantic technologies, wireless communication and object-identification technologies (e.g. RFID, 2D barcodes).
  2. Economics/Management Theory: Analysing the business potential of intelligent media, for example relating pricing models and product differentiation strategies.
  3. Design: Development of design models and methods for intelligent media.

The Research Center for Intelligent Media (RCIM) at the Furtwangen University was founded at the  (MCM) Media and Communications Management Institute at the University of St. Gallen in 2002.

Currently we focus our research on Smart Products and Electronic Knowledge Markets.
